The India Speed Week 2016 is going to be conducted in Kolkata between December 9 and December 11. Organised by Elite Octane Inc with approval from the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the India Speed Week will host a drag racing event on the airstrip at the Behala Flying Club over three days.
Drag racing is a popular genre of motorsport which involves motorcycles and cars racing against the clock on a 400 metre stretch, known as a ‘quarter mile’. These races are conducted across various classes categorised by displacement and modification levels.
The India Speed Week 2016 is expected to see contention of 150 racers. Enthusiasts who wish to witness the India Speed Week 2016 can book their tickets online. Those interested in going a step ahead and actually race can register before November 30. Entry fee range from Rs 3,000 for stock category going all the way up to Rs 7,000 for open class.
Firefighting and medical support facilities will be arranged at the event to ensure safety of spectators and competitors. Participants will also be expected to adhere to strict regulations for their race machines as well as safety gear.
