KTM had launched the 1290 Super Adventure S internationally in January this year, now the adventure bike has finally made its way to the Malaysian market. In Malaysia, it's priced at RM 1,32,900 (Rs 23.28 lakh). While it's unlikely to launch in India, let's take a look at its amazing pictures.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S gets a tall and muscular design. It comes with a tall adjustable windscreen up front, semi-fairing connecting its fuel tank and headlamp, spilt seat setup, raised exhaust, split-type rear grab handle and a rear carrier. The adventure bike is available in two colour options: Orange and Black.
The flagship adventure bike in the company's lineup is offered with a host of features like all-LED lights, tilt-angle adjustable seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, USB charging socket, five riding modes (Rain, Street, Sport, Off-Road and optional Rally) and a quick-shifter.
Talking about safety features, the 1290 Adventure S comes equipped with cornering ABS, slipper clutch, stability control, traction control, automatic turn indicator reset, anti-theft, tyre pressure monitoring system and radar system. The five-stage radar system maintains a safe distance from the traffic ahead.
At the heart of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S sits a 1301cc V-twin Euro5 compliant engine that is mounted in a trellis frame. This motor churns out 157.8bhp at 9,000rpm and 138Nm at 6,500rpm. All this power and torque is transmitted to its wheels via a six-speed gearbox.
The ride of the motorcycle is taken care of by WP semi-active suspension technology that mounts 48mm inverted forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking is handled by a 320mm twin disc at the front and a 267mm single disc at the rear, assisted by Bosch dual-channel ABS.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S comes equipped with a 19-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 120mm width at the front and 170mm width at the rear. The seat height here can be adjusted by 20mm from 849-869mm, and the bike weighs 220kg.
