- Gets revised fascia and bodywork
- Features and updated chassis
- Could retain the same motor
KTM has been testing a slew of its upcoming motorcycles including the RC 990, 390 ADV, and the 1290 Super Duke GT. The litre-class streetfighter was recently snapped on a test run and here’s what it looks like.
The boomerang-like LED DRLs continue to flank the vertically stacked projector headlight. The setup is topped by a wide windscreen and integrated with a sharp side fairing. The latter is directly connected to the radiator shrouds giving an overall butch appearance to the bike. The 1290 Super Duke GT retains the rear subframe for the latest iteration but gets revised pillion footpegs. Meanwhile, the exhaust setup too has been tweaked slightly.
It’s likely to be powered by a 1,308cc, LC8, V-twin engine. However, the output figures aren’t known as of now. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that could benefit from a bi-directional quickshifter.
The 1290 Super Duke GT test mule is equipped with WP front forks and KTM could offer a semi-active setup on it. At the rear, it gets monoshock which could feature preload, rebound, and compression adjustments. The braking hardware consists of dual front discs and a single rear disc with ABS. KTM is likely to offer a bevy of rider aids like ride mode, ABS levels, traction control, smartphone connectivity, and more.
The test mule still looks in its early stages of testing and could be launched late next year. However, it’s unlikely to be launched in India.
