- 1040 KTM 1290 Super Duke R recalled
- Issue with wiring harness
- Will be fixed free of cost
KTM has issued a recalled notice in the US over an issue with the 1290 Super Duke R’s wiring harness. This recall will affect a total of 1040 motorcycles.
KTM says that the recall pertains to a potential electrical short circuit failure if the main wiring harness is damaged due to the wiring harness being incorrectly routed or missing wiring harness protection parts. It also went on to say that if the wiring harness is chafed or melts, it could cause the engine to stall, and a short circuit may occur. It could lead to injury or damage to property.
A total of three models have been affected – the 2020 1290 Super Duke R, the 2021 Super Duke R and the 2022 version of the Super Duke R EVO. The brand’s dealers will contact the affected customers and ask them to bring their bikes to the nearest SVC. They will then inspect three contact points of the wiring harness to check for the issue. If the problem persists, the correct wiring harness will be installed free of charge.
