KTM 1290 Super Duke R-based Brabus 1300 R: Details Explained

KTM and Brabus have revealed the 1290 Super Duke R EVO-based motorcycle, the 1300 R. This new motorcycle will be produced in limited numbers and its pre-orders would commence from 14 February, 2022 onwards. Here we list the top details of the new Brabus 1300 R.

Design

Although the new Brabus 1300 R is based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO, the motorcycle looks completely different from the Austrian roadster. The styling cues include a round headlight at the front with a sporty mask made from carbon fibre. The fuel tank features air-ducts while the pillion seat has been replaced by a carbon pillion seat cover for a sportier styling. Other styling elements include a carbon-fibre skid-plate, a single-sided swingarm, forged Brabus monoblock Z wheels, and a custom-made heated seat. The Brabus 1300 R will be available in two colours – Magma Red and Signature Black.

Features

The feature list is similar to the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, and the new Brabus 1300 R gets an LED headlight, an LED taillight, and LED turn indicators. The cockpit comprises a fully-digital instrument cluster. The electronic rider aids include five riding modes (Street, Sport, Rain, Performance, and Track), ABS, traction control, engine brake control, and cruise control system among others.

Engine

The mechanical specifications are identical to the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO. Thus, the Brabus 1300 R is powered by the same 1,301cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the Austrian roadster. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 180bhp of maximum power and 140Nm of peak torque.

Hardware

Brabus customised hardware on the 1300 R includes CNC-machined triple clamps, CNC-machined adjustable front brake and clutch lever, CNC-machined adjustable footpegs, and CNC-machined reservoirs and oil tank caps. The shock absorption tasks, similar to the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO edition, are handled by WP APEX semi-active suspension. This electronically-adjustable suspension setup comes with six damping modes – Comfort, Street, Sport, Track, Advanced and Auto. The Auto mode, as the name suggests, automatically adapts to road and riding conditions. The WP APEX PRO 7117 steering damper is also part of the package. The anchoring setup, similar to the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO, includes Brembo-sourced callipers.

Availability

As mentioned at the start of this article, the Brabus 1300 R will be sold in limited numbers. Brabus will produce just 154 units of the motorcycle (77 units of two colour options each). The number 77 signifies the year in which the Brabus Company was formed. The motorcycle has been priced at 34,549 GBP (approximately Rs 35 lakh) in the UK. That said, this motorcycle will not be sold in the Indian market.
