- Gets carbon-fibre panels
- Uses Akrapovic exhaust system
- Likely to be produced in limited numbers
The new KTM 1290 Super Duke RR was recently spotted during its test runs, revealing finer details about the premium naked roadster motorcycle. The new variant will have premium hardware and lighter weight than the standard Super Duke R. The source report claims that the extra R badge will bring carbon fibre, titanium, and magnesium parts to the motorcycle, thus helping it shed nine kilograms over the standard 1290 Super Duke R.
The carbon-fibre bits will include the rear subframe undertail cover piece, front fender, flyscreen, chain-guard, and brake ducts. The parts like the pillion seat, footrest, and grabrails have been eliminated from the RR variant for shedding the weight further.
The RR variant will also pack a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system which could affect the power output over the standard model. The figures, however, may not be drastically different from the 1290 Super Duke R’s 177.bhp (180hp) and 140Nm output.
The source report adds that the 1290 Super Duke RR will be produced in limited numbers and there could be just 500 units of the motorcycle. All the premium equipment and lightweight material will affect the final pricing, and the RR model could carry a considerable increase over the standard version of the naked roadster.
