- Production-ready model spotted testing
- Features KTM 450 Rally bike-inspired styling
- Unlikely to launch in India
Apart from the recently seen KTM 1490 Adventure, we have now come across the spy shots of the upcoming KTM 1390 Rally. Although based on the current 1390 platform which only has the Duke as of now, the test bike you see here borrows its design cues from KTM’s 450 Rally bike and is likely to pack the same motor as the current 1390 Duke.
It is quite evident that the upcoming 1390 Rally takes inspiration from the Austrian bikemaker’s Dakar bikes and will be more ‘off-road’ oriented than just ‘adventure’ riding. Its slim front end, followed by the fuel tank split on both sides and the flat seat all indicate the same. It appears that the KTM has borrowed the 1290 Adventure’s frame and swingarm. The WP suspension too seems to be carried over for the 1390 Rally.
Its fascia comprises a set of vertically stacked projector LED lights topped by an almost vertical visor. But the rider also appears to have a spare visor tied to the rear seat which seems slightly shorter. The KTM 1390 Rally test bike has been equipped with a double-barrel Akrapovic exhaust, an aluminium bash plate, and handlebar guards too. On a closer look, we can also see a notably large vertical instrument console. It appears to be a colour TFT screen.
Along with the WP front forks and monoshock, the braking hardware on the upcoming KTM 1390 Rally will include dual front and a single rear disc mounted on probable 21-inch front and 18-inch rear cross spoke wheels wrapped in off-road tyres.
KTM is currently testing the 1390 Rally in Europe and could launch it next year. However, it chances of entering the Indian market are bleak.
