- Gets two new colours and fresh graphics
- Remains unchanged mechanically
- Unlikely to be re-launched in India
The 2024 KTM 790 Duke has been unveiled for the international markets. The new model year comes in two new colour options, grey and orange - both of which get refreshed graphics on the fuel tank and rear panel. In the mechanical department, the motorcycle has been left untouched.
Propelling the 790 Duke is an LC8c, 799cc, parallel-twin engine that produces around 103bhp and 87Nm of peak torque. This engine acts as the stressed member of the bike’s chromium molybdenum steel frame that adjoins the aluminium sub-frame. The suspension duties are handled by 43mm USD forks and a monoshock, both WP Apex branded and adjustable. A 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm unit at the rear handle the braking duties with dual-channel ABS. Meanwhile, the 17-inch alloy wheels come shod with Maxxis Supermaxx ST tyres.
Typical of KTMs, the 790 Duke is quite loaded in terms of electronics. There are four riding modes – Street, Sport, Track, and Rain. Based on the selected riding mode, the intervention of riding aids like traction control, wheelie control, and ABS varies. It also gets a colour TFT console which shows a plethora of information, changes theme in the Track mode, and offers Bluetooth connectivity. Further, the standard seat height of the bike is 825mm which can be lowered to 805mm by opting for the accessory lower seat.
The KTM 790 Duke was sold in India for a few months but it was discontinued towards the end of 2020 and never came back to our shores. Now, even if KTM India decides to bring one of the bigger Dukes here, it will certainly be the more modern and better-equipped 890 Duke, or perhaps the 990 Duke that is under development as of now.
