KTM has unveiled the entry-level variant of the 890 Adventure series. The 890 Adventure range comprises of three variants – Standard, R, and R Rally. Here we bring you all the details of the new KTM 890 Adventure (standard).
Design
The KTM 890 Adventure looks similar to the 790 Adventure. Thus, the design cues include sharp styling that comprises of a praying-mantis headlight, tall windscreen, a 20-litre low-slung fuel tank, tall-set exhaust canister and a height-adjustable split-style saddle. The standard variant of the motorcycle will be offered in two colour options – Orange and Black. The ADV-character is emphasised by features like knuckle guards, bash-plate and wire-spoke wheels.
Features
The 890 Adventure is equipped with premium features such as full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT-screen. The Bluetooth connectivity offers access to functions like calls and music. Moreover, the optional KTM MY RIDE app brings the convenience of turn-by-turn navigation to the instrument cluster. The switchgear includes a button for Cruise Control System although the software to enable the feature is sold separately.
Engine
The KTM 890 Adventure is powered by a Euro5-compliant, 889cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the motor produces 103.5bhp of maximum power and 100Nm of peak torque. KTM claims that the engine delivers better rideability thanks to the 20 per cent increased rotating mass.
Hardware
The shock absorption tasks are handled by a new WP APEX rear shock that features a rebound damping adjuster and an additional hand adjuster for spring preload. The suspension setup at the front includes WP-sourced upside-down front forks. The motorcycle comes with 200mm of suspension travel. The braking department comprises of twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back. KTM says that the 890 Adventure gets reworked front and rear brakes for added control.
Electronics
The comprehensive electronics package includes ABS, Cornering ABS, Motorcycle Traction Control, and Motor Slip Regulation as standard. The optional extras include Cruise Control System, Quickshifter+, and heated seat and grips.
