- 890 Adventure R spied near Bajaj’s Chakan facility
- Likely to be on display at the 2022 IBW
- India launch possible early next year
The KTM 890 Adventure R was recently spotted in India for the first time. One of the partially covered units of the motorcycle was being carried on a pick-up truck near Bajaj’s Chakan facility in Pune.
While this could be an indication of the 890 Adventure R’s imminent India launch, there’s also a possibility that the brand imported it just for a showcase at the upcoming motorcycling event, India Bike Week. Even in 2019, KTM’s IBW stall was adorned with bikes like the 1290 Super Duke and the 790 Adventure which never made it to our shores. Nevertheless, the thought of the 890 Adventure R going on sale in India truly excites us.
The 890 Adventure R is a typical KTM incorporating an abundance of electronic aids, premium hardware, and a performance-oriented engine. Propelling the ADV is an 889cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out around 104bhp and 100Nm of peak torque. Making it a safer machine is traction control paired with a 6D sensor, off-road ABS, cornering ABS, and four riding modes.
Other features on the motorcycle include a five-inch colour TFT display which features a new appearance and graphics and revamped navigation system in the 2023 model. It also gets a UCB-C connector. Moving on to the hardware, riding on an adventure-oriented combination of 21-18-inch wire spoke wheels with tubeless tyres, the 890 Adventure R is suspended by 48mm WP XPLOR USD forks up front and a WP XPLOR PDS monoshock at the rear.
If KTM brings the 890 Adventure R to India, it will go up against the Triumph Tiger 900, BMW F850 GS Adventure, and the Ducati Multistrada V2.
