- Powered by 889cc, LC8c parallel twin, liquid-cooled engine
- Gets 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends
- India launch unlikely
KTM has unveiled the 890 Adventure-based supermoto motorcycle for the international markets. Christened as the 890 SMT, this new motorcycle comes with a re-tuned KTM 890 LC8c platform along with a street-focused chassis, adjustable suspension, premium tyres and brakes, and other components. The 889cc, LC8c parallel twin, liquid-cooled engine on the motorcycle is tuned to produce 103.5bhp at 8,000 rpm. The company claims fuel consumption of 4.6 litre/100km and a range of 343km per full tank.
Meanwhile, the styling cues are similar to the 890 Adventure, and the SMT model boasts a split-style headlight, a tall-set front fender, an upswept rear section, and a tall-set exhaust. However, unlike the adventurer tourer, this model comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. The KTM 890 SMT has a CroMo steel frame with a tighter geometry that apes the KTM 890 Adventure. The suspension setup on the motorcycle includes 43mm WP APEX open cartridge upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The braking tasks are handled by twin 320mm discs at the front and a single 260mm rotor at the back.
The feature list includes full-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display, three ride modes (Rain, Street, and Sport), an optional Track mode, cornering traction control, and a lean-sensitive ABS with supermoto mode. Buyers can opt for additional equipment such as heated grips, Motor Slip Regulation (MSR), a quick-shifter, and a cruise control system.
This motorcycle will be available at KTM dealers in the international markets from April 2023. Notably, the KTM 890 SMT will not be sold in North America for the model year 2023. The Indian launch of this motorcycle is not likely to happen as well.
