- Could be powered by a new 990cc motor
- Gets vertically stacked twin LED projector headlights
- Likely to be available in different variants
KTM has been working on multiple models for the coming year and the 990 Duke has been spotted testing again. Its spy shots indicate that the bike is in the early stages of testing and development and here’s what it looks like.
On the design front, the 990 Duke test mule gets a completely different headlight than the current Duke(s). It’s a vertically stacked twin LED projector headlight arrangement. The bodywork too seems different and a tad rugged but that could be just for the test bike. It seems to benefit from an updated rear section with a new subframe.
Moreover, KTM has also been working on a new twin-cylinder motor which it’ll likely employ in the upcoming 990 Duke and RC 990. The images and information for the new 990cc motor have been leaked previously. It reveals that the engine casing looks majorly similar to the 890cc unit but with minor tweaks. Even the overall dimensions seem to have received minor changes so KTM can use the existing chassis as well.
The 990 Duke test mule rides on USD front forks and a monoshock from WP. Its braking hardware comprises twin front discs and a single rear unit with Brembo calipers. We also expect the updated Duke to carry a TFT display with smartphone compatibility.
As mentioned earlier, the test mule is in its early stages and could be launched later this year or early 2024.
