- Features a new fascia and bodywork
- Spotted testing internationally
- Likely to get LED illumination, TFT, and more
KTM has been testing many upcoming models in India and on the international ground as well. This time, we’ve come across spy shots of the probable KTM 990 Duke, which was seen on a test run overseas. The test bike seems close to production.
Similar to the other KTM models, this one, too, is equipped with a pair of reverse-boomerang headlights on the side, which could be the LED DRLs. And in the centre, we expect a pair of vertically situated projector headlights. The fuel tank extensions come off as fairly sharp and contribute to the visual mass near the front end. The overall bodywork is also very aggressive and in line with other KTM Duke models.
KTM has also been developing a new LC8c mill and its type approval documents were leaked in China. We expect the same to be used for the new 990 Duke. For reference, the previous generation of the KTM 990 Duke debuted way back in 2004 and was off the shelves a few years later. So, the latest model is expected to pack all the bells and whistles. The list of electronics is likely to include LED illumination, ride mode traction control, wheelie control, ABS mode, and more. We also expect a TFT screen on the upcoming model.
The test bike seen here is equipped with WP USD front forks and an offset monoshock. The braking hardware comprises a twin front and a single rear disc mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in sticky road-biased rubber.
KTM is likely to introduce the new 990 Duke in the international market only as it didn’t witness great success with the 790 Duke here in India.
