- Will be powered by a 947cc, parallel-twin motor
- To be launched in Europe in 2025
The upcoming KTM 990 RC R sportbike has been spied testing in Europe. The latest spy images reveal some distinctive details about the motorcycle.
The 990 RC R prototype features a layered fairing and integrated winglets for better aerodynamics and downforce at higher speeds. It will get a composite aluminium subframe. Currently, the prototype is seen running test equipment on its tail section to record test data.
The KTM 990 RC R takes inspiration from the race-spec RC 8C. It will be powered by a 947cc, parallel-twin, LC8c engine that will produce a maximum output of 128bhp and a peak torque of 103Nm. The motor will be paired with a six-speed gearbox. The test mule gets a stainless steel exhaust canister.
The motorcycle will be underpinned by a steel trellis frame, suspended on fully adjustable WP Apex Open cartridge suspension and an adjustable monoshock. The motorcycle will also get adjustable footpegs to change the rider triangle according to individual needs. Unlike the KTM 990 Duke, which uses J.Juan callipers, the KTM 990 RC R will get Brembo’s top-spec Hypure callipers, which are better than the Stylemas.
KTM will also allow riders to convert the standard 990 RC R into the Track Edition. The motorcycle is expected to debut next year in Europe and is likely to go on sale soon after its launch. The KTM 990 RC R will rival the Ducati Panigale V2 and the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
