- To be launched in 2025
- Powered by a 990cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor
- Currently in its second stage of testing
KTM has released another teaser of its upcoming flagship superbike, the 990 RC R. The Austrian brand is currently conducting the second chapter of its testing and has teased the same on its social media platforms.
The KTM 990 RC R takes inspiration from the bikemaker’s purebred race bike, the RC 8C. It is powered by a 990cc LC8c parallel-twin cylinder engine that makes 128bhp and 103Nm. The bike gets a newly developed stainless steel muffler as well. It is nestled in a steel trellis frame suspended on WP Apex Open cartridge suspension and an adjustable monoshock.
Further, the KTM 990 RC R also gets adjustable footpegs to tweak the rider triangle slightly. It rides on cast aluminium 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres. The brand is currently carrying its wind tunnel testing as well.
KTM will also provide the necessary elements to turn the standard 990 RC R into the Track Edition. This will include stripping away the road-legal essentials, incorporating protective components, fine-tuning hardware adjustments, and revising racing bodywork, including a full exhaust system. We expect the 990 RC R to be loaded with electronic rider aids like ride modes, traction control, wheelie control, pit lane limiter, ABS modes, launch control, and more.
The bike will debut next year and will go on sale in the European market followed by other regions. In the international market, the KTM 990 RC R will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Ducati Panigale V2, and more.
