KTM India’s customer racing program called the KTM Cup recently concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. It is recognised by FMSCII as KTM’s One Make Championship and received the support of Castrol and CEAT this year.
The second season of the championship witnessed participation from 900 KTM owners from 114 towns in India, 111 racers out of which were selected for qualifiers. Depending on their racing experience, skill level, and gender, the racers competed across three different categories – Pro, Amateur, and Women. A few journalists from the Indian auto media fraternity also got the opportunity to compete against each other in a friendly race. Besides racing, participants got to train at the KTM Race Academy which is spearheaded by ex-MotoGP racer Jeremy McWilliams and seven-time INMRC champion Emmanuel Jebaraj.
Now, looking at the winners, Rahil Shetty took the overall win in the Pro category while Abhishek Vasudev and Kayan Patel clinched the second and third spots, respectively. The Amateur category was won by Adam Backer with Mohd Yusuf and Shashanka Sharma finishing second and third, respectively. Lastly, in the Women category, Ann Jennifer dominated the class with Lani Fernandez and Tanisha Arora occupying the second and third positions on the podium. The winners from each category will be flying to Austria for the KTM Academy of Speed.
