- Gets 399cc parallel-twin engine
- Makes 35kW or 46.9bhp of maximum power
- India launch unlikely
Benelli has updated its Chinese product portfolio with the launch of the KTM RC390-rivalling Tornado 402. This motorcycle comes with a parallel-twin engine along with premium hardware and a stylish design. The styling cues, for example, include a vertically-stacked twin-pod headlight, a full-fairing, a clip-on-style handlebar, a 14.8-litre fuel tank, split-style seats, a side-slung exhaust, and a single-sided swingarm.
Further, the modern design is complemented by premium hardware such as a projector-style headlight with twin LED DRLs, an LED taillight, and LED turn indicators. The ride-related information is displayed on the colour TFT screen, while the safety net is handled by a dual-channel ABS. Then, the mechanical specifications on the Tornado 402 include a 399cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 35kW or 46.9bhp at 10,000rpm and 38Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm. This makes the Tornado 402 A2 license-compliant, which hints at its imminent launch in the European market.
The hardware on this product includes Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The braking setup comprises dual discs at the front and a single rotor at the back, while the safety net, as mentioned above, includes a dual-channel ABS. Then, the 17-inch alloy wheels are shod in 110/70-section front and 150/60-section rear Maxxis tubeless tyres.
The Indian launch of the Benelli Tornado 402 is unlikely to happen. However, this motorcycle should reach the European market in the coming months.
