KTM has unveiled the Super Duke 1290 at EICMA, and it has got absolutely everyone excited, not least because it will probably have the best power-to-weight ratio of any motorcycle on sale. How, you ask? With an estimated 180-200bhp and barely-there carbonfibre bodywork bolted onto a chrome-molybdenum steel chassis.
The Super Duke 1290 will have a bored-out version of the 1195cc V-Twin that powers the RC8 supersport machine and power will be fed to the rear wheel via a ride-by-wire throttle system. ABS and traction control will be required and present, of course, but they won't be party poopers - they can be switched off by those brave enough. It will also have anti-stoppie and anti-wheelie control as well. Suspension is taken care of by new prototype WP suspension and the rear looks especially smashing with that single-sided swingarm.
No price has been announced for it, but you can reasonably expect it to be priced around the same as the the RC8R, which retails at Rs 9.1 lakh before taxes and duties.
