- New Duke 900R unveiled
- Churns our more power
- Deliveries from early 2025
KTM has unveiled a top-spec version of the popular Duke 990. This model is called the Duke 990 R and gets lots of new features and churns out more power.
The major upgrade on this motorcycle has come in the engine department. The 947cc parallel-twin motor makes 7bhp more than the base model. This additional power can be attributed to the increased rpm limit. However, the torque remains the same.
The Duke 990R gets premium 48mm WP Apex open-cartridge forks up front which is fully adjustable. Due to thicker forks, KTM claims that it is 34 per cent stiffer and churns out a sporty feel. The rear suspension is new too and has a linkage that connects to the front. The rest of the mechanism is similar to the base model.
This Austrian street bike gets Brembo Stylema calipers up front with a pair of 320mm discs. The Bosch ABS comes as standard and there are other features like multi-level traction control system and riding modes. There's an IMU as well, which means cornering ABS comes as standard. KTM has equipped the bike with their new H88 TFT instrument cluster which looks really good on this motorcycle. This system can be connected to the phone using the KTM app and navigation comes as standard here.
As of now, the KTM Duke 990R is available only in xxx colour and the bike is likely to go on sale in Europe and US sometime next year. This bike could make its way to India sometime next year, based on how the country responds to the other big bikes that are rumoured to be launched here on 14 November.
