- Kymco unveils RKS 150 maxi-scooter
- It has a claimed top speed of 120kmph
- India launch unlikely anytime soon
The Taiwan-based company, Kymco, has unveiled its new 150cc maxi-scooter, the RKS 150, at the 2021 Beijing Auto Show. Unlike the curvy design of the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 that’s sold in India, the RKS looks profoundly sporty. It also gets a host of modern features while the technical specifications are also impressive.
The body work of the RKS is dominated by taut and edgy design lines throughout. The front fascia comprises a dual-LED headlamp with sleek DRLs along with a tall windscreen on top. Rest of the body panels up to the real look quite muscular. Complementing its distinctive styling are advanced features like a Bosch-sourced dual channel setup, a fully-digital console, keyless ignition, and a USB charging socket.
Powering the RKS 150 is a 149cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine that churns out 14.8bhp of power and 13.2Nm of peak torque. The claimed top speed of the scooter is a respectable 120kmph. As for the hardware, it rides on 13-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. Stopping power comes from a disc at both ends.
In association with Twenty Two Motors, Kymco had unveiled three scooters in India in June 2019. However, these products have not been launched in India yet.
