- Kymco takes the wraps off the F9 sport electric scooter
- Claimed to deliver 120km battery range and 110kmph top speed
- Transmission system comprises of two gears
Gone are the days when electric scooters used to be just short-distance urban commuters. Times are changing and manufacturers have started churning out profoundly exciting electric two-wheelers. One such example is the new F9 sport e-scooter unveiled by the Taiwanese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Kymco.
The highly radical and sleek styling of the F9 clearly speaks of its sporty intentions. The chiseled front apron houses compact LED headlamps with svelte LED blinkers. The side panels and tail have minimalistic body panels but with taut and angular lines all across. Certain elements which instantly catch attention are the golden 14-inch alloy wheels, split seat setup, and the rear tyre hugger, all of which lend it a premium appeal.
Now, let’s talk about the technical specifications and performance numbers of the F9, which are pretty impressive. Propelling the e-scooter is a 9.4kW motor which produces 30Nm of torque. The company has not yet revealed the torque output from the rear wheel. It goes as much as 110kmph fast which keeps it several notches higher than the conventional EVs meant only for commuting. The F9 runs on a 96V40Ah battery pack which is claimed to deliver a range of up to 120km and juices up in two hours through the fast charger.
One of the most interesting features of the F9 is the presence of a two-speed automatic transmission which should give the rider better control on its power delivery. It is based on a unique and compact frame which uses the battery pack as the stressed member and the overall kerb weight stands at just 107kgs.
While Kymco will launch the F9 in several international markets, its arrival in India looks uncertain. The company had tied up with the Indian brand 22 Motors in 2018. However, according to the online rumours surfaced earlier this year, both the brands have parted ways and there’s no clarity on Kymco’s presence in India as of now.
