- Lambretta Electric prototype will be globally unveiled in India at the Auto Expo 2020
- India-bound Super Lambretta is also on the cards
- The company is preparing to initiate an assembly plant in India
Lambretta is all set to make us nostalgic as it has officially announced its comeback. The company will be globally unveiling its first electric prototype in India at the 15th edition of Auto Expo, to be held from 6 to 9 February, 2020. Innocenti-owned Lambretta will be entering India in association with Noida-based Lohia Auto and Bird Group from New Delhi. Moreover, the company has also announced the development of a steel Super Lambretta especially for the Indian market.
The Lambretta Electric is being developed in Milan, Italy. The company hasn’t disclosed any details of the scooter but, since it will be a Vespa-competitor, we can expect modern-classic Italian styling along with rugged built quality. As for the India-bound Super Lambretta, it is said to be more spacious and bigger than the existing models in the company’s portfolio. Lambretta recently launched the V-Special model in Australia which is available in three versions including V50, V125 and V200.
Lambretta is an iconic scooter brand which halted its India operations in the 1980s. Now that it’s resurrecting in the country, it is preparing to start an assembly plant in Mumbai which, along with India, will act as the production hub for neighbouring and African countries.
