- Official design patent leaked
- Looks sporty and takes design inspiration from the Xoom
- Spotted testing a while ago
Hero MotoCorp seems to be gearing up for a new 125cc sporty scooter. One of its official design patents has been leaked on the web and the image reveals a handful of details about the probable new Hero scooter.
The patent shows a sporty-looking model and it gets a sharp front panel filled with cuts and creases. The headlight is likely to be integrated at the bottom of the apron and the turn indicators appear to be fitted in the handlebar cowl. Even the side fairing gets a fairly aerodynamic design. While it may seem similar to the Hero Xoom, the pattern on the patent scooter is different. It also features a two-piece grab-rail for the pillion and an external fuel tank lid behind it.
Interestingly, a Hero test scooter was spotted back in June, and upon comparing its design with the new patent, it appears that the two are the same. The test mule, too, featured the same side panels and grab-rail. However, there’s no clarity on what name tag Hero will use for its upcoming sporty scooter. '
We expect it to be powered by a 125cc single-cylinder motor. As of now, Hero has the Maestro Edge 125, Destini 125, and the Grazia in its 125cc scooter line-up. This leaves Hero with another spot to add a new model and potentially go for the TVS Ntorq customer base.
The hardware seen in the leaked image consists of telescopic front forks and a single rear shock, a front disc and rear drum brakes. The rear wheel looks large and is equipped with a tyre-hugger, just like the one we saw on the test scooter.
