-Based on the F3 RR
-Weighs 14kg less than the RR
-Chassis developed in association with Ohlins
Italian motorcycle marque MV Agusta has taken the wraps off the limited-edition F3 Competizione supersport offering. This F3 RR-based track missile will be limited to just 300 units which is just one of many reasons for it being an ultra-exclusive, special machine.
To start with, the chassis of the bike has been developed in collaboration with Ohlins. The suspension setup comprises NIX30 upside-down forks, equipped with 43mm TiN-coated stanchions, and Öhlins TTX 36 rear shock absorber, with dual-tube technology and an external piggyback reservoir, both being fully adjustable. Even the Ohlins steering damper gets 19-step adjustability.
Based on a steel tubular trellis frame, the F3 Competizione rides on carbon wheels that reduce the unsprung mass by 3kg as compared to the F3 RR. Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers at both ends. Powering the bike is a 798cc, three-cylinder engine that sports titanium intake and exhaust valves and produces around 160bhp at 13,500rpm. The engine is paired with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust specially developed for the Competizione.
With an overall kerb weight being 14kg lighter than the F3 RR, this boasts a better power-to-weight ratio. MV Agusta has also bestowed the bike with a more advanced electronic setup comprising a six-axis IMU working alongside a new ECU which facilitates the bike with four riding modes, eight stages of traction control, and cruise control.
While the overall bodywork looks similar to the standard F3, the Competizione gets wings integrated into its side fairings, just like the RR trim. These are claimed to generate 8kg of downforce at 240kmph. Plus, the triple-tone black, grey, and gold colour combination looks stunning along with a smoked racing windscreen, carbon fiber fairing sides, and a front fender engineered to optimise airflow, enhancing brake cooling and regulating engine temperature.
