As the lockdown across India has starter easing up, the best compensation for all the months we have spent home would be to hit the road and munch over a thousand kilometres. However, if you haven’t done it before, the preparation might look like a lengthy and tedious task. Even some experienced riders find the packing and readying the bike a bit tricky. But believe us, it’s quite easy if you follow the appropriate procedure, all of which we have discussed in the sixth episode of The BikeWale Podcast. The link to the show has been attached below.
How To Prepare For A Long Ride | Episode 6 | The BikeWale Podcast
Preparing yourself
Being physically and mentally prepared for a long ride is as important as your motorcycle and itinerary. Starting your journey on two wheels with an anxious and angry mind might turn out unfavourable with you not being able to focus on riding. It could also take a toll on your physical health as a pre-existing health issue might escalate due to the strenuous activity that a ride is.
Preparing your motorcycle
While the basic maintenance service is undoubtedly important, there are a few other aspects you need to take care of. One of which is the tyres. On a multiple-day ride, you’ll be riding through varying terrain and at a higher average speed than your regular riding. So the wearing speed of the tyres is much faster. There are many other bits that need attention and we have discussed them in detail in the podcast.
Setting up luggage
As many motorcycle luggage options are available today, it could be equally confusing to choose the right one for you. From a tank bag to panniers, you can stuff your belongings in any kind of gear. However, there are certain ways to mount your luggage on a bike to avoid multiple halts during your excursion. We have weighed in on all these aspects in the sixth episode of The BikeWale Podcast.
