- The GenZe is an electric scooter developed in US
- Takes around 3.5 hours to charge zero to 100 per cent
- Battery holds enough charge to last up to a little less than 50km
Mahindra has begun testing their electric scooter, the Genze in India. This is the first time this EV has been seen on Indian roads.
This scooter was first showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. Built in US for the developed markets, the GenZe was designed to be an urban commuter product. But now with various versions developed, the GenZe caters to a wider audience, including business establishments.
The GenZe revolves around the concept of plug and play. The batteries can be removed with ease and can be taken home for charging. Lack of liquid inside these batteries make it easy to operate them as well. This 1.6kWh Li-ion removable battery, takes around 3.5 hours to charge from zero to 100 per cent. This battery holds enough charge to last up to a little less than 50km. The GenZe has plenty of luggage storage areas making it quite a versatile product. It also gets a colour display screen, GPS, riding modes and smartphone app compatibility.
We’re expecting Mahindra to roll out the GenZe in India in the next 2-3 years when the market is mature enough for such vehicles. But expect it to come with a price tag that will make it an expensive product to own.
