Mahindra has introduced a new variant of the Centuro commuter motorcycle, called Centuro Rockstar, at Rs 44,710 (ex-showroom Ahmedabad). As of now, the motorcycle has been launched in just three states- Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat while the other states are expected to get this motorcycle over the period of next few weeks.
The Centuro Rockstar is mechanically identical to the Centuro N1 and O1, though it does get some visual changes. The New decals and lack of engine cowl set it apart from the pricier variants. Though some features like digital instrument cluster, remote key fob and the anti-theft alarm have been binned, it does get LED pilot lamps, LED tail lamps, alloy wheels and the stylish flip key. It comes with telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers and five-step adjustable rear shocks with coil over spring.
The Centuro Rockstar is powered by the same single-cylinder 106.7cc MCi-5 engine that produces 8.38bhp of power and 8.5Nm of torque, mated to a four-speed gearbox. It rivals other commuter motorcycles like Hero Splendor, Bajaj Discover 100M and the Honda Dream Neo.
The Centuro Rockstar is an entry-level variant which sits below the O1 and N1 variants of the commuter motorcycle. While Mahindra did have another commuter motorcycle, the Pantero, in its line-up, reports suggest that the motorcycle has now been discontinued due to dwindling sales. This has led to the creation of a void in the market space, which Mahindra will now hope to capture with the Centuro Rockstar.
