Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. (MTWL) has announced their sales numbers for May 2014 which show a growth of 131 per cent. The company has achieved these numbers mainly due to the sales of the Centuro which was launched last year.
The manufacturer sold 16,824 two-wheelers in May, which include 15,878 units sold in the domestic market. The company delivered 6,858 two-wheelers to customers in the same month last year. This year, 946 units were exported to other countries.
Viren Popli, Chief of Operations, Mahindra Two Wheelers said, “We are happy to maintain the demand momentum of our two-wheeler division during May 2014 with a growth of 131 per cent in the domestic market, which is indicative of the growing acceptance of our product portfolio especially our flagship brand, the Centuro. With a positive upsurge in socio-economic sentiments and on the back of improved demand, we hope to remain on the growth trajectory going ahead”.
The company opened the Mahindra GenZe manufacturing facility along with the North American Technical Centre in south east Michigan. Though the manufacturer hasn’t disclosed any names of export markets, the company intends to export products from the country. Mahindra is still yet to launch their 300cc motorcycle, the Mojo, which was showcased at the Auto Expo in February this year. We expect the two-wheeler maker to add this upcoming motorcycle to their range by the end of this year.
