Mahindra Two Wheelers is one of the few manufacturers that entered the scooter market in India quite late. But now it is making sure that it remains competitive in the market and has also announced the development of a new 150cc scooter.
This news was confirmed by Dharmendra Mishra, vice-president, MTWL, during the launch of the Gusto scooter in South India. For now, the top honcho has teased us with only this information and is tight-lipped about it details. But we can expect this 150cc scooter to be co-developed by Peugeot, Mahindra’s latest acquisition. This European company excels in scooter technology and it makes complete sense for its Indian counterpart to use it. There are hardly any Indian manufacturers that have showed interest in getting into the 150cc scooter segment. The first one was Hero MotoCorp with its Zir range. The company is also planning to launch new models in new segments every six months with the latest one being the Mojo 300. First showcased in 2010 and after almost five years of continuous development, the Mojo will finally make its way to the Indian market in April.
“We had earlier indicated our plans to launch at least one new model every six months and we are committed to this. Several segments are being considered by the research and development team based in Pune. This includes a 150 cc scooter,” said Dharmendra Mishra, vice-president, sales and customer care, Mahindra Two Wheelers.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on the Mojo 300 and the new products from Mahindra Two Wheelers.
