Mahindra’s upcoming 110cc scooter, internally called G101, has once again been spotted undergoing trials near Pune. The G101 is Mahindra’s first 110cc scooter and will be positioned below the Rodeo to go up against the likes of Hero Pleasure, TVS Jupiter and the segment leader, Honda Activa-i.
Previous sightings of the scooter have revealed that the front apron will sport pseudo air vents besides the turn indicators, a reminiscence of the Kinetic Blaze. Many components are expected to be shared with the Mahindra Duro’s parts bin to keep costs in check. It seems that Mahindra won’t be generous in terms of equipment as the test mule didn’t feature alloy wheels or a front disc brake.
The G101 is expected to use the same air-cooled 110cc engine which is used in the Centuro. This engine produces 8.38bhp and 8.5Nm of torque in the commuter motorcycle. It will be mated to a CVT gearbox.
The Mahindra G101 will be produced at the company’s Pithampur plant, near Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Mahindra has a relatively small presence in the Indian market and it has plans to increase its customer base in the coming months. Last month, the Pune–based manufacturer revealed that they were going to introduce at least three new two-wheelers, including the G101 scooter and the Mojo 300, this year.
