The Mahindra Gusto 125 has been unveiled in India, ahead of its official launch later this month. The Gusto 125, as the name suggests, is a 125cc version of the Gusto unisex scooter, and has been developed at the company’s R&D centre in Pune.
Aesthetically, the Mahindra Gusto 125 shares a major chunk of its components with its 110cc sibling, which should help the company keep costs in check. The front apron gets pseudo air vents and a faux aluminium panel with the company’s logo and clear lens indicators. The instrument cluster gets an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge. The rear gets a long single-piece grab rail and a big tail lamp assembly, which integrates the stop light, reflectors and clear lens indicators.
Powering the Mahindra Gusto 125 is a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is based on the powertrain used in the Rodeo and the Uzo. Mahindra has however retuned the engine to increase the output to 8.6bhp and 10Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission.
The Mahindra Gusto 125 is available in four funky paint schemes - monarch black, orange rush, bolt white and regal red. The Gusto 125 is on par its rivals when it comes to the power figures, though we are yet to gauge how it performs. Stay tuned to BikeWale for a first ride review of the Mahindra Gusto 125.
