Mahindra Two Wheelers has launched a new HX variant for its 110cc scooter, the Gusto. With a price tag of Rs 49,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra), the HX variant is placed between the DX and the VX variants.
The company had launched the Gusto last year and unlike the Centuro, the Gusto has failed to set the sales charts on fire. The Gusto HX variant misses out on some features from the VX variant like the flip key and follow me home lamps. However, it gets the trademark adjustable seat, which no other scooter in India offers. Mahindra Two Wheelers has equipped the Gusto with telescopic suspension, LED pilot lamps and a front facing kick level, making it a value for money proposition.
The Gusto is powered by a new 109cc all aluminium M-TEC engine. This new air-cooled single-cylinder engine churns out 8bhp and 9Nm of torque, which makes it the most powerful scooter in the segment. The Gusto is sold in four colours – volcanic red, magnetic magenta, iceberg white and galatic white.
Mahindra had high hopes with the Gusto, considering the fact that the Centuro performed really well in the Indian market. Scooters like the TVS Jupiter and the Honda Activa still manage to outsell the Gusto by huge numbers.
