After acquiring Kinetic, Mahindra Two Wheelers launched some products that were based on platforms developed by the former. However, as per a report, Mahindra has registered the Luna brand, hinting at a possibilityof using this famous name for some of its future products.
Mahindra Two Wheelers tasted success with the Centuro, but failed to attract consumers with the Gusto, which was a big launch for the company. The Gusto was the first scooter from Mahindra that was developed in-house. During the launch, one of the top honchos confirmed tha the company will use the new 110cc platform to develop more scooters.
The Luna moped when it was sold in India had a 50cc engine and was known for its high fuel efficiency. The same report suggests that the Pune-based manufacturer will enter the moped segment with the Luna and the Luna TFR. However, we are not expecting these products to make its way to India, because there is no market for the moped segment in the country. With the Luna, the company might be looking for export markets, where there is demand for mopeds.
