After years of dilly-dallying, it seems like Mahindra has finally made up its mind to launch the Mojo. Latest reports suggest the 300cc naked motorcycle will be launched in India on October 16. A few dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the motorcycle for a token of Rs 10,000.
Much like the concept, the front of the production-spec Mojo features a bikini fairing with smoked twin-headlamps, which are flanked by LED DRL strips. The side profile gets Mahindra’s trademark golden ribs while the radiator is bordered with air-scoops. The key slot has been positioned on the fuel tank. The Mojo is powered by a newly developed four-stroke 295cc single-cylinder engine which is expected to churn out 27bhp and 25Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled unit gets electronic fuel injection and will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The suspension setup consists of inverted forks at the front and a monoshock in the rear while the braking hardware is made up of a 320mm petal disc brake at the front and 240mm disc brake in the rear.
While the Mojo concept was first unveiled at the 2010 Auto Expo, Mahindra has taken its own sweet time in developing the production version. The lack of an exciting image building product in Mahindra’s line-up has hit the company’s sales numbers pretty hard. At such a time, the Mojo is the perfect motorcycle, which might help revive the Pune-based manufacturer’s sales. The Mojo will rival the other naked motorcycles like the KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300 and the Kawasaki Z250.
