Just a few weeks after being spied testing at the Kari Speedway in Chennai, the Mahindra Mojo has once again been spotted completely undisguised on the streets of Pune. While the Mojo concept was first unveiled at the 2010 Auto Expo, Mahindra seems to be taking its own sweet time in developing the motorcycle. The latest spy pictures however, hint that Mahindra might have finished developing the motorcycle and that the launch date is not very far away.
The Mojo featured detailing like branding on the fuel tank and side panels as well as the tail lamp. The front of the Mojo features a bikini fairing with smoked twin-headlamps, which are flanked by LED DRL strips. Unlike a majority of new motorcycles, the Mojo gets an elongated single-piece seat. The side profile gets Mahindra’s trademark golden ribs, while the radiator is bordered with air-scoops. The key slot has been positioned on the fuel tank.
The instrument cluster integrates an analogue tachometer and a small digital display. Suspension consists of inverted forks at the front and a monoshock in the rear, while the braking hardware is made up of a 320mm petal disc brake at the front and 240mm disc brake in the rear.
The Mojo is powered by a newly developed four-stroke 295cc single-cylinder engine which is expected to churn out 27bhp and 25Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled unit gets electronic fuel injection and will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Mahindra recently announced its sales figures for December 2014, which show that the company’s number fell by a staggering 30 per cent. The lack of an exciting image building product in its line-up seems to have hit Mahindra pretty hard. At such a time, the Mojo is the perfect motorcycle, which might help revive the Pune-based manufacturer’s sales. The Mojo will rival the other naked motorcycles like the KTM Duke 390 and the Kawasaki Z250.
