Mahindra Two Wheelers has announced that the company sold 13,569 units of motorcycles and two-wheelers in the last month. While the sales numbers have dropped by 6.5 per cent as compared to the corresponding period in 2013, the cumulative sales for of four months of this financial year have grown by a staggering 64 per cent.
Mahindra also ships off its products to foreign markets in Latin America and the export numbers for the last month stood at 1,329 units. Mahindra’s growth has been driven by the popular commuter motorcycle, the Centuro. The Centuro is a feature-loaded motorcycle and despite having a long equipment list, is priced very competitively.
Commenting on the company’s growth in the last four months, Viren Popli, chief of operations, Mahindra Two Wheelers said, “The market sentiment has been positive overall and our sales continue to be driven by the demand for the Centuro motorcycle. We are confident of significant growth considering increasing demand for the Centuro and exciting new products and variants which we have lined up over the next two months leading up to the festive season.”
Sales of two-wheelers have picked up ever since the government announced a duty cut for two-wheelers as well as four wheelers and the extension of the duty cut has created a positive outlook for manufacturers. Mahindra recently announced that they were planning to introduce three new two-wheelers over the course of the next few months.
