Mahindra will be launching their 100cc premium motorcycle, the Centuro on 1st July. The motorcycle was unveiled earlier this year along with its basic version, the Pantero.
The Centuro is powered by a single cylinder air cooled MCi-5 engine (Microchip ignited 5-curve engine which produces 8.5bhp at 8500rpm and torque of 8.5Nm at 5500rpm. The Centuro is targeted at premium commuter customers who are not only looking to commute from one place to another but also wants to enjoy the latest technology the motorcycle offers.
The Centuro features a "central locking" anti-theft system along with an engine immobilizer, a remote 128 bit encrypted flip key which is first in its class. It also features "find me" lamps that will help an owner locate his motorcycle in a crowded parking lot and guide lamps that will remain lit for seven seconds after switching off the ignition. The speedo is fully digital with white backlighting for better visibility. The motorcycle also features distance-to-empty fuel calculator and service due indicator.
Mahindra is playing a big bet with this motorcycle as no other manufacturer has dared to get these many features on a 100cc motorcycle. There is a possibility of the market giving good response to this motorcycle but pricing will play a major factor here. We are expecting the Centuro to be priced between Rs 48,000 and Rs 53,000.
