Mahindra Two Wheelers revealed the name of its new 110cc scooter, the Gusto yesterday at a press conference in Mumbai. This is the company’s first scooter that has been built from ground up after acquiring Kinetic scooters six years ago. During the event, the company revealed its plan to sell its motorcycles and scooters through its tractor dealerships spread across the country.
Mahindra Two Wheelers currently sells its products only through 500 dedicated two-wheeler outlets. It plans to leverage its tractors and utility dealer network in the rural areas to sell its two-wheelers as well. The company has been targeting rural areas for the sales of its two-wheelers, so leveraging its sister company’s network does make sense.
The current dealer network of the tractor and utility vehicle is not known, but this will surely give more access to the company in the rural network. As per the company, they had showcased their range of two-wheelers during a tractor dealers meet recently and many of them showed interest in taking up the two-wheeler dealership.
“We have about 500 exclusive two-wheeler outlets, which is a fairly good size in this market. In addition, we are looking to leverage our tractors and utility vehicle (UV) dealer network to sell two-wheelers,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, CEO, Mahindra Farm Equipment and Two-Wheelers.
Mahindra Two Wheelers will launch more scooters in future based on this new 110cc platform. The Mojo launch has been postponed as the company is testing it intensively. However, the launch duration for this motorcycle was not revealed.
