Mahindra Two Wheelers have launched a Hindi version of its mobile version for its Pantero motorcycle which was launched earlier this year. This is the first time any manufacturer has taken this initiative of introducing a mobile Hindi site.
The company has realised the importance of mobile site in India. There are currently 323 million rural mobile phone users in India, of which 3.6 million actively access internet on the go. Of this number, 32% access the Internet in Hindi and this number is likely to grow exponentially over the next few years. It won’t be a surprise if other manufacturers follow this route for their highest selling motorcycles. This will help them target rural areas where English speaking is not much.
“While other brands continue promoting aggressively on TV and print, we identified the mobile phone as the most relevant digital medium for mass reach, especially considering the overwhelming presence of the rural consumer pool on mobile Internet” said Viren Popli, executive vice president, strategy and marketing development, Mahindra Two Wheelers.
