- McLaren-owned Lavoie Series 1 unveiled
- Weighs 16kg and offers 40kmph top-speed
- Unlikely to be launched in India
British supercar manufacturer, McLaren has entered the electric two-wheeler space with its newly acquired subsidiary- Lavoie Electric. The company has now showcased its first e-scooter offering called the Series 1.
Now, the Series 1 has a clean and minimal design with uniquely-styled LED lighting on the front, side and tail lamp as well. What is interesting about the design is what Lavoie calls the Flowfold folding mechanism. This first folds the floorboard, the steering tube and the stem of the handlebar for a compact package that could be easily stowed away under a work desk. Moreover, the Series 1 scooter is also relatively light at just 16kg.
But despite the lightweight construction, McLaren has not shied away from kitting the scooter with performance. The scooter packs in an electric motor with a peak output of 800 watts, resulting in a top speed of 40kmph. The brand is offering the scooter with two battery packs- a 468Wh unit or a 702Wh pack. These can be charged in under three hours using the built-in 250-watt fast charger.
As for tech, the little e-scooter comes with smartphone connectivity that can that allows the user to control speed and power with a single button. You also have three ride modes. While Mode 1 is the eco option, Mode 2 and Mode 3 fully unravel the Series 1’s torque. While the McLaren-owned Lavoie Series 1 will make its debut internationally next year, it is unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon.
