- Vespa GTS 300 SuperTech churns out 23bhp and 26Nm
- Gets a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster
- Is also available in Touring and SuperSport variants in Philippines
Vespa is known to offer an array of premium scooters, most of which also carry a hefty price tag. While its 125cc and 150cc scooters fall on the expensive side of the spectrum, the GTS 300 SuperTech takes things to a whole new level. Vespa has recently launched the GTS 300 SuperTech in the Philippines and pegged it at 480,000 Peso, which converts to Rs 5.6 lakhs (ex-showroom) in Indian currency.
While the GTS 300 features the traditional Vespa styling with a retro design theme, it has a plethora of tricks up its sleeves to justify that exorbitant price tag. To start with, it is powered by a 278.3cc, liquid-cooled motor which churns out 23bhp of power and as much as 26Nm of peak torque which is more than the KTM 200 Duke!
As opposed to its classic styling, the technology is as modern as it can get. All the information is displayed on a comprehensive 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster which is Bluetooth-enabled. This display connects with the rider’s smartphone via an app called the MIA and gives access to calls, messages and music player. In terms of hardware, the scooter is quite old-school as it gets link-type suspension up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends, assisted by dual-channel ABS as standard.
The SuperTech is the top-end variant of Vespa’s GTS line-up in Philippines which also includes Touring and SuperSport models. The latter two are considerably more affordable than the SuperTech. As for its India entry, the Vespa GTS 300 models are unlikely to come to our shores anytime soon.
