Just a few days after Honda teased the CRF 1000L Africa Twin, two patent drawings leaked by an Australian website gave us the first glimpse of the upcoming adventure motorcycle. Now though, a bigger batch of patent drawings has been put up on the internet, which paints a more detailed picture of the motorcycle.
The Honda CRF 1000L will be a spiritual successor of the XRV750 adventure bike, from whom it also borrows the ‘Africa Twin’ moniker. Like the previous ones, this set of greyscale drawings has also been retrieved from Honda’s design patents filed in Australia, and show the bike from every angle. These new images show that the CRF 1000L will get radially mounted brake callipers for the dual discs at the front and a sump guard below the engine to protect the vital components. Thought the drawings show the motorcycle shod in standard road tyres, we expect Honda to offer knobbly off-road tyres as an option.
The CRF 1000L Africa Twin has been designed along the lines of the Japanese manufacturer’s current CRF range, though the underpinnings share most of their bits with Honda’s Dakar machine. The CRF 1000L Africa Twin is expected to be unveiled in its production for later this year, as a 2016 model. It will go on sale in the last quarter of this calendar year.
