- Gets fully carbon fibre chassis
- Equipped with a supercharger that bumps up power to 170bhp
- Limited to only 50 units
Norton has taken the wraps off the Superlight SS, a more powerful and lighter version of its middleweight Superlight sportsbike.
To start off with, the Superlight SS gets a fully carbon fibre frame, subframe and swingarm. This has resulted in a weight reduction of around 47 per cent from the standard Superlight which uses aluminium components. The Superlight SS comes powered by a 650cc, parallel-twin engine similar to the standard model. However, to up the ante, the folks at Donington decided to throw in a supercharger which has bumped the power to 170bhp. That is a whole 65bhp over the Superlight’s 105bhp power output.
What makes the Superlight SS more special is that the motorcycle will be limited to 50 units only. Norton has announced that the SS is already in production and pricing will be revealed soon. The Superlight SS is unlikely to come to India anytime soon although we can expect the standard Superlight to be introduced here in the near future.
