The growth of scooters has made the Indian two-wheeler business look positive. All mass market manufacturers want to have a slice of it (well, everyone except Bajaj). The interesting part however, is that most of the manufacturers didn’t introduce any new scooters in 2017, choosing to update the exiting line-up instead. We bring a list of the top three scooters to be researched on BikeWale this year.
The Activa 125 doesn't sell in larger numbers. It's pricey, old and doesn't have the required performance figures. Despite sporting the hallowed Honda brand, the Activa 125 has been unable to grab the numero uno position from the Suzuki Access 125. But clear that the scooter still generates a lot of interest among the audience.
2: TVS Jupiter
The Jupiter is the second highest selling scooter in India after the Activa. This was possible, thanks to TVS' effort in making a value for money scooter. The scooter has a design that is widely accepted by everyone. It's balance of performance and fuel efficiency make it pocket-friendly too. Plus, features like the 12V socket, large seat and external fuel filler cap have made it a very attractive proposition. All these have made the Jupiter the second most researched scooter on BikeWale in 2017.
1: Honda Activa
While the competition has steadily progressed, offering modern cycle parts and creature comforts, the Honda Activa has remained more or less the same in the last few years. And despite this, the Activa has been raised to the mantle as the highest selling two-wheeler in the Indian market. While the word of mouth has helped the Activa build itself in India, it is also happens to be the most researched scooter on BikeWale.
