The Italian brand Moto Morini has launched its Seiemmezzo twins, the Retro Street and the Scrambler in India. While the former is priced at Rs 6.89 lakh, the latter costs Rs 6.99 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
As the names suggest, the Retro Street is a neo-retro roadster and the Scrambler is slightly more inclined towards adventure riding. Both motorcycles share the same platform and a majority of styling with subtle differences. The Retro Street looks more traditional with a round headlamp, a circular fuel tank, and a minimalistic floating tail. Meanwhile, the scrambler brings in more visual drama with a tiny fly screen, golden USD forks, a beak-like front fender, and a tan seat. Both bikes also offer slightly different ergonomics due to the difference in their handlebar design.
Powering the bikes is a common 649cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 54.2bhp and 54Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Both bikes ride on an 18-17-inch wheel combination. What’s different here is the type of wheel; the Scrambler gets spokes while the Retro Street sports alloys. Underpinned by a tubular frame, these bikes incorporate upside-down forks and a monoshock, both being adjustable. Braking is handled by dual discs at the front and a single rotor at the rear.
In India, the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo Retro Street and Scrambler will go up against the likes of the Kawasaki Z650, Triumph Trident 660, and the Honda CB650R.
