-Wins the race with a 3.6s gap to Jorge Martin
-Gap between Bagnaia and Martin drops to 10 points in the Championship
-Enea Bastianini brings the second Factory Ducati home in third
Pecco Bagania, riding for the Ducati Lenovo Team, stamped his authority over the Dutch GP by winning the main race on Sunday. The Italian had secured Pole and won the Sprint on Saturday, making it a perfect race weekend.
Pecco the perfectionist
Pecco Bagnaia did not put a wheel wrong during the entire weekend and his performance during the race was unmatched. As soon as the race began, Pecco made the perfect launch from the line and kept Martin behind, going into Turn One. From then on, there was no looking back for Bagnaia as he kept putting on consistent lap times on the board.
Jorge Martin did try his best to keep up with Pecco but every time the gap reduced, Bagnaia responded and ensured he never fell into the clutches of Martin.
In the end, Baganaia crossed the finish line with over 3.6s gap to Martin. It showed the completely different level that the reigning World Champion was riding at.
Jorge Martin had to settle for second and saw his 2024 Championship lead over Bagnaia cut down to 10 points.
The rise of the Beast
Enea (The Beast) Bestianini brought the second Factory Ducati home in third after putting up a brilliant performance. Despite starting way down the order, Enea made some brilliant moves on riders like Pedro Acosta as he made his way up the field. He, afterall, is known for his incredible ability to conserve tyres and push towards the end of the race, setting a hot pace that riders around find hard to match. With both Factory Ducatis on the podium, the Dutch GP was nothing short of a memorable weekend for the team.
Championship wide open
While Pecco and Jorge hold the top two positions in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, Marc Marquez is third but trails Bagnaia by 51 points. The next race will be held 5 July to 7 July at the Sachsenring in Germany.
