- MotoGP comes to India
- Will be called BharatGP
- 2023 debut likely
MotoGP is coming to India. Dorna Sports – the official organizer of this race has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fairstreet Sports – a Noida-based sports company.
This race will be called the BharatGP and will be held at the famous Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida. The MoU has been signed for a total of seven years and the first GP is expected to take place as early as next year. However, the 2023 GP isn’t confirmed yet.
BIC was originally built for Formula1 Grand Prix. So FIM is yet to approve this track for MotoGP. As of now, there is no information if the track needs to be modified or changed to suit MotoGP. Luckily, there’s strong support from the UP government and that makes us believe that MotoGP is likely to see increased participation over the coming years.
