The MV Agusta Brutale 800 has been launched in India at Rs 15.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Motoroyale dealers have started accepting bookings for the middleweight streetfighter for a token amount of Rs 4 lakh.
While we had ridden the old Brutale 800 back in 2015, the 2017 model has been given a slew of cosmetic updates to make it more streamlined and aerodynamic. The fuel tank, trademark triple exhaust pipes, headlamp and the tail lamp have been redesigned to give it a more aggressive look. It has also gained a new aluminium subframe to lose weight. The rear footpegs have been repositioned, and so are the vents and ducts.
Powering the Brutale 800 is a revised BS IV-compliant 798cc inline three engine. The engine has been detuned to produce 109bhp as opposed to the older bike's 125bhp. Apart from an eight-level traction control system and ABS, the rider aids now includes a quickshifter and a new slipper clutch.
Once a customer books the Brutale 800, it will take 45 to 60 days for the motorcycle to get delivered. However, that is the price you pay for exclusivity. It might be a middleweight, but the price tag of the Brutale 800 makes it share the market space with bigger bikes like the Kawasaki Z1000, BMW R1200 R and the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V. MV Agusta is also planning to launch the high-performance version, the Brutale 800 RR, in the next few months.
