MV Agusta has unveiled its newest addition to the highly exclusive range of Reparto Corse motorcycles – the Dragster 800 RC. Based on the MV Agusta Dragster RR (which in turn is a sportier version of the Brutale 800), the Dragstert 800 RC will be produced in a limited run of just 350 examples.
The Dragster 800 RC comes in a unique paint job inspired by the tri-colour livery of MV Agusta’s race bikes. The ‘37’ decal on the fuel tank indicates the number of world road racing titles the company has to its credit. The Dragster 800 RC’s front fender, radiator deflectors and fairing are made out of carbon fibre to cut down on weight. Underpinning the Dragster 800 RC is the Italian marque’s traditional chassis layout - a tubular-steel trellis frame with a single-sided aluminium swingarm.
Powering the bike is a 798cc three-cylinder engine which delivers 140bhp and 85.4Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a cassette-style six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quickshifter for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Suspension duties are performed by 43mm inverted Marzocchi front forks and a Sachs rear monoshock. Brembo calipers grip on 320mm dual discs up front and a 220mm rear disc. The electronics package includes eight level traction control, ABS and ride by wire offering four riding modes.
The MV Agusta Dragster 800 RC will make its maiden public appearance at the 2016 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, next month. While the standard Brutale 800 is not sold in India as of now, we can expect the streetfighter to be launched here along with a handful of Dragster 800 RC models over the next year.
