- MV Agusta EV development to commence next year
- Final product to be revealed around 2027
- 950cc ADV to be revealed by the end of next year
After making a host of exotic petrol-powered motorcycles for years, MV Agusta has now revealed that it will be beginning the research and development of its own electric two-wheeler starting next year. The final product is likely to be revealed around 2027.
The information was given out by the company’s CEO, Timur Sardarov in an interview recently. The CEO said that it would take the brand about five to seven years to develop an EV that will match the ethos of their performance motorcycles. As of now, the company is focussing more on its upcoming 950cc platform, which we had told you about last month. This platform will first spawn an adventure motorcycle that will also be followed by a naked and a sportsbike based on the same 950cc engine. We will also see more models based on the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 super naked.
A lot of major ICE motorcycle manufacturers have already started showing off their EVs in the concept form. For instance, Triumph revealed the TE-1 electric super naked project last month and Husqvarna also took the wraps off its E-Pilen concept recently. Although MV Agusta will be late to the party, starting the development of an EV next year and being ready with it by 2027 sounds too quick and ambitious. On this, the top honcho explained that 25 per cent people of MV Agusta’s entire workforce are a part of research and development. This gives it an upper hand over other brands and will help in the rapid development of an electric two-wheeler.
